We will show you some affordable and cheap ways to update your bathroom in 1 weekend. In just 2 days you could have a better looking bathroom for the price of a family meal (or slightly more - if you do everything on the list). You don’t have to do all of the following if your bathroom is already great. However, if your budget is low or you think your bathroom looks dull and outdated, (or is like one of these terribly bathrooms), you’ve come to the right place. Let’s get a move on!

you don't need to spend a lot to get an updated bathroom

Great ways to update a bathroom

Paint cupboards white or if you’ve got lots of light coming in, paint them dark green or black for that royal effect.

Paste a mirror on your cupboard doors, or add mirror instead of a wooden door to reflect light coming in. Ikea does some very affordable mirror-cupboard doors.

Place a stylish (or retro) bathroom stool - or chair in your bathroom. It’s a great place to put damp towels or dirty clothes, or even to sit on. My kids like to sit on our bathroom stool to brush their teeth. You can paint an old chair you’ve got stored in your garage.

If you’ve got tiles you can’t bear. You don’t need to re-tile. Just prime and paint with tile paint. If you’re not a fan of painting, you can always use bathroom wallpaper on one wall as a feature to brighten up the entire room.

If you have heavy curtains, replace them with lighter blinds to let the light in.

Change your shower curtain to something fresher and lighter to complement the rest of the room. The best shower curtains out there for bathrooms are ones like this non-mildew shower curtain I highly recommend using it.

Buy some storage jars and place them about. Make sure they complement your décor, though. Don’t forget, a cheap way to get new storage containers is to spray paint old ones. Have you got glass jars stored in cupboards? Do you have old, plastic kitchen storage containers you never use any more? How about metal or enamel bowls or large cups? Spray paint works on a variety of materials, so go wild spray painting this weekend. If you’re not up for this, here’s some cheap storage jars I can recommend (image below).

Now, please share with us some things you’ve done cheaply to update your bathroom? How long did it take you and how much did you spend?
